Richard the Third
Directed by: Jenny Bennett, Summer Fall 2018 American Shakespeare Center.
Concept: The show was set traditionally elizabethan with some elements referencing the earlier styles that coordinated with the time period of this story. In this large play with man many characters the most important deisgn elements were communicating not only character, but house and allegience. Richard adorns himself in finery and white fur belieing his true character. The yorks had a red palette, and the lancasters were inblue. The woodevilles had teal, and Henry VII has greens and silvers. To further denote allgience, we used Richards Sigil, the boar to clarify who was with Richard when. We sculpted and cast these badges based on extant historic samples.
